A non-profit offering free career resources wanted to expand its impact by creating a members-only community. They needed a site that could handle different membership levels, track user activity, and encourage engagement while still offering free resources for public visitors.
I built a membership platform on WordPress with both free and paid tiers. Paid members got access to premium resources like downloadable templates, webinars, and a private discussion forum. The forum was integrated directly into the site to keep users engaged without needing third-party tools.
I also implemented gamification — members earned badges for participation, which encouraged repeat visits. Admins could view reports on member activity, track growth, and send targeted announcements.
Within the first three months, the site gained over 1,500 active members, with 20% choosing paid plans. This new recurring income stream allowed the non-profit to fund more programs and expand outreach. More importantly, the community provided peer-to-peer support, making the platform a valuable career-building resource.
